Eating Local

Marguerite and I had a few hours to ourselves this afternoon while Genevieve was playing at Stella's.  I worked while she napped, enjoying the quiet of my house.

With an hour to spare before we needed to pick up G, we decided to drive up Chuckanut to Taylor Shellfish Farms to buy clams for dinner.  I love the hustle and bustle of visitors and workers and boats colliding on their oyster shell shrouded water front.

Marguerite was enthralled by the murky tank of dungees,

and as soon as she had our bag of fresh clams in hand she declared, "Yummy!  Heavy!  Cold!  Mine!" to anyone who would meet her exuberant gaze.

Everything I cooked for dinner was grown in this valley.  Maybe that is why it was so beautiful.
