The Sting

Yesterday was friend filled, with a play date in the morning with these sweet sisters,

and happy hour at our house with Alyson.  Everything was going swimmingly until G stepped on a bee for the zillionth time this summer.  She can't walk on her swollen foot, and looks at me with sad eyes and says, "what am I supposed to do?  I can't sit on the couch and hold a doll all day."

So we went on three stroller walks.  We had a picnic on the lawn.  We read books.  We dressed dolls.  We had tea parties.

At first blink this morning I thought this was going to be the longest day ever carrying around and entertaining an unhappy G.  Turns out we had a good day full of imagination and lots of treats to get us through.

"I hope my big hot foot feels like dancing tomorrow" were her last sleepy words of the day.  Me too, G.
