Genevieve and I have two overbearing traits in common - we're bossy and stubborn as hell. Recently I've found myself fighting hard to maintain my boss status with her. I'm the mama, so I should be in charge, of everything, right?! Wrong.
I folded today and am so glad I did. We were playing in the sand box and I started dictating how we should spread the "frosting" on the "cake" we were baking together. G started getting mad at me and I realized how ridiculous I was being. I asked her to show me how to decorate a cake and she patiently walked me through the steps and I patiently followed her instructions. It turned out to be one of the best afternoons we've had. Letting go of being right and being in charge was just the lesson this hyper alpha mama needed to learn.
Here's our cake,
and my patient and creative boss child's shoes.
Thanks for helping me learn, sweet G. And yes, I'm still the one technically in charge.
