Well, it's official. Homer is experiencing its coldest July on record. I realize we did not come to Alaska for the weather - but come on! These people deserve some sunshine.
Genevieve: Mom, is it always morning in Alaska.
Me: No, it's just light a lot, day and night.
Genevieve: Well, it looks like morning and feels like winter. All the time.
Here's my inappropriately-dressed-for-the-weather daughter making her way the the mailbox, little sister in tow, to mail daddy a letter. The letter consisted of a drawing of a bow tie and a Genevieve scribed message to be interpreted as, "Daddy, I hope you have a wonderful day. I love you. I'm going to run to you when I see you and give you the hugest hug. And I want my new bedroom to be painted party pink. Love, G."
We dodged the rain for a few hours with friends, art projects and Finn's pizza,
then put on raincoats when "please use your inside voice" stopped working.
